Girl Under Glass
A can of worms

So I went ahead and upgraded to IE7 (see previous post), went to check my site, and BOOM! It didn’t render the same as it does in IE6. I FRICKIN’ KNEW IT! I had a feeling 7 would screw me all up, which is why I put off upgrading for so long. Thankfully though, it was a very tiny issue (problem was the width in one of the divs). I was able to figure it out and fix it with only a limited amount of time spent ignoring my children. heh :P Once I did fix it though, it got me wondering if fixing it in IE7 would “break” it in IE6 or even Firefox? Because that particular div’s width was never an issue before. Oh, the freakin’ stress! So I did a little googling and came across Browsershots. It’s totally awesome because it lets you see how a website renders across a whole bunch of different browsers- some I’ve never even heard of before! On the other hand, it could be your worst nightmare if you tend to get meticulous about that kind of stuff. But now I can also see how a theme looks in Safari without having to bug The Husband to check it out on his Mac. Yay for me! :D

I must go now though. I just realized that Q has been eerily silent for the past 15 minutes or so. This can’t be good! Must go see what kind of hell my 18-month-old has stirred up while Mommy is playing on the internets…

IE 7, do I or do I not?

I’m a little skeered, but thinking of downloading Internet Explorer 7. I currently run 6 and don’t see any reason to mess with it, other than the notion of moving up with technology (before the anti-IE folk give me a rash of crap, I *do* have Firefox 2 installed as well, but I don’t particularly like it). I realize more people are using alternative browsers these days, but if you look at your web stats (domain owners), you’ll see the majority are still using IE :P

Actually, the only reason I even have Firefox installed is so I can test new themes to make sure they look spiffy in FF. I’m a huge stickler for cross-browser functionality- none of this “you have to use X browser to view my site” stuff! BAH! You call yourself a web designer?! Ok- let me get off my soap box long enough to ask the question I came here for…

So how is IE7? Those of you that have it- does it suck? Do you recommend I upgrade? I’ve heard all sort of scary complaints about it, but that was in the past. I’m wondering if it’s any better now?
