Girl Under Glass
Mom and Dad use their Get Out of Jail Free card

Get Out of Jail Free On Saturday afternoon, my Mom & Step-dad came up to babysit so hubby and I could go on a “date”. We were so damn excited! We hadn’t been out alone for some real adult time since before Q was born. Hubby even booked us a swanky room at The Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale. We actually got to sleep in for once in two years! And by “sleep in” I mean 8:00am vs. 6:00am. Anyway, we preceded to get fairly intoxicated. First we ate some serious num nums at Z Tejas. After dinner we did a little bit of barhopping where we slammed down many overpriced but seriously strong cocktails. Then we went to watch the late showing of The Dark Knight and followed it all up with some crazy hotel lovin’. All you married parental units totally know what I’m talking about when I say “crazy” ;D I think we were in bed asleep by 2am (ooh, what party animals!). All in all, it was great just to spend some time alone together, even if we did spend the majority of it talking about the kids and saying how much we missed them. LOL! At least it was drunk talk. Oh how I wish I was half as cool (and animated) in real life, as I am when I’m drunk. I thought I was pretty freakin’ funny that night, telling my story about having a fateful attack of diarrhea at the grocery store, while shopping with an infant in a super heavy carseat carrier (not exactly a convenient time to nearly have your butt explode). But then again, who doesn’t think they’re pretty cool when intoxicated?! We even bummed a cigarette from a couple of hoochie mamas. It was a menthol and we both got a little light-headed from it. And afterwards I hated that distantly familiar smell of smoke on my hands!

When we got home Sunday afternoon, my Mom & Bob told us all about their busy night taking care of the boys. I think they needed a vacation of their own by that point! I know they enjoy being with their grandsons, but even they fully admit that it’s a tough job to care for an infant and a toddler at the same time. There was even “evidence” of just how much of a stinker my little Q-man can be. Apparently, he went to bed with two crayons in his hands, only one of which my Mom was able to get way from him. He started to throw a serious fit when she tried to get the second one (he has this crazy obsession with holding crayons). So out of sheer exhausted, she decided just to let him fall asleep with it. The plan was to go back in and take it after he had fallen asleep. Well, she did go back in later, in the dark, but she couldn’t find it to save her life. She thought maybe he had thrown it under his crib or was probably sleeping on it. He had started to stir and she didn’t want to wake him, so she just let it go and went to bed herself. When she went to his room to get him up in the morning, she found that he had colored all over his crib sheet. At least he didn’t color the wall! It could’ve been much worse!

Some of the blue crayon, which I’m hoping will come out in the wash:

And Baby G had a lot to say when we got home. Here he is “talking” up a storm to Momma:

It was a fun night, I’m so glad we had the opportunity for some Mommy & Daddy time. However, I now believe I’ve grown old and lame for a reason. I’m just not cut out for the party scene anymore!

Glad you got a night out! Sounds like you had fun!

I don’t even have kiddos and I can’t handle the party scene anymore. It takes me a few days to recuperate.
