Girl Under Glass
A is for...

This will be the first in a series of “Before I go back to work” posts, because in just 1.5 weeks- the party’s over! :( Try not to get too annoyed with the whining, crying, and overall sense of dread that while definitely ensue.

Since I’ve been on my extended bonding leave, I’ve actually had time to work on some craft projects. I absolutely love doing crafts, but I haven’t indulged myself since way before Q was born. One of the items I’ve been working on is “altered letters”. Which is basically just an unfinished wooden letter that is decorated. I decided to just work on the first letter of each of our names. The A & P for hubby and I will go on our desks in our home office. The letters for the boys will go on shelves in their rooms. The boys letters have been painted & decoupaged, but not yet embellished. I need to purchase some embellishments that are boyish first. I just finished mine tonight though, and I think it turned out pretty cute! I put a ladybug on it to match my tattoo. Plus I wanted it to match the red & black theme of our office:

If you’re interested in creating some of these yourself, here’s a link to a great tutorial. They’re not hard to make and you don’t have to be especially crafty or anything. It just takes a lot of time while waiting for layers of paint, mod podge, and glue to dry (as in forEVER) - so you must have the time, space, and patience to set it aside and come back to it days later if need be. You could do someone’s entire name in letters if you had that kind of patience! Or you could make large ones to hang on the wall. I plan to make a boat load more of these for Christmas and birthday gifts.

How cute! I love that. And it is a great idea for gifts. I’ll have to check into doing that. Thanks for the idea!
